Silver uMax on the Beach

Somewhere LuckyLarry posted that he liked the Silver uMax a lot and that it even worked well on the beach, but now I can't find the post at all.

Has anyone had any experience using it on the beaches in Florida or on the east coast?

How did it do on wet sand (or was it useless there)?

The Silver will do as well as about any detector on the dry sand. It will have trouble in the wet sand unless you turn down the sens a lot.

Thanks Sandman. I guess one of the few detectors you would recommend for land/beach use would be the Sovereign based on your previous posts, understanding that you can't get the box wet. Anything other than the Excal you would recommend for beach use without spending a fortune?

I'm probably looking for something with a little discrimination ability as I've reached a point in my life where I don't want to dig everything that beeps.
