Simplex Vs. Garret Carrot

With my Garret Carrot and the Simplex active at the same time, the simplex has audible interference. I've tried shifting frequencies on the Simplex but I still get interference on all frequencies. Is this normal or is there something else I can do, beside turning off the Simplex while using the pinpointer?

The 2.77 update turned the pinpoint button into a mute button if pressed once to deal with this problem.
