I know some of you fellows here in this part of the forum do not like video comparisons between units and would rather read a review.
However a short video can save a whole lot of typing and editing
Well here is a little of both for what it is worth. I know these 2 units are not setting the world on fire anymore with the popular new SMF units available today
However the XP Deus and ORX are still very good performing units for me and are still widely used around the world.
A lot of guys across the world tried out the new XP Deus 2 and then went back to the original XP Deus. They do not need the FMF platform in mild plowed ground conditions and several of those guys do not bother ground balancing either due to their soil is neutral throughout most of their region.
I do not blame them at all for sticking with the 1st generation Deus and ORX. I like the format of the 1st Deus better than the XP Deus 2.
I like the ORX and Deus about the same for different reasons and in many ways they are almost the exact same detector.
Several years back I bought an ORX when it came out. It performed very well for me. After a while I purchased an XP Deus remote and paired it to the 9 inch HF coil I had with my ORX.
I noticed while out detecting in the fields and such that the ORX responded just about the exact same way as the Deus did while using the same coil and running the same frequency.
On some deeper targets the ORX responded louder than the Deus did using a configured deep profile
I used to catch hell over that statement right here on treasurenet.
Now with that said I know there are guys that had some deep iron programs and such that MIGHT.....and I repeat myself MIGHT have correctly identified iron in certain scenarios with tone breaks configured a certain way but I never had any experience noticing an advantage of it myself.
I am not saying it would not....all I am saying is I never saw proof of it first hand.
Sorry guys but I still feel that way today.
So after it rained a bit I made a video showing both the XP Deus and the XP ORX using the same frequency on the X35 coil.
Both units respond almost the exact same way on the buried targets I have in my test bed.
