My vote goes to the Equinox 600 or 800...hands down. Multi frequency in the EQX vs single frequency in the Simplex. The EQX has a very fast processor, enhanced sensitivity to smaller targets and a killer on saltwater beaches where the Simplex falls short.

Just the view from my foxhole...

There is a 600 with carrot for sale on ebay right now asking $575. It must still have a lot of warranty left. Great deal in my opinion. Coinboy, this might be one to jump on. Waterproof phones too.

Simplex is still a single frequency detector, multifreq over single freq all day long.

Simply put "used Minelab Equinox" as an ebay search and watch every day, more good deals on used ones will arise. I thought that one was a fantastic deal with the included carrot and two pairs of phones. I told a friend of mine about it too, but he hasn't mentioned he went for it. Somebody got a nice set up cheap. I found it because I was watching "used garrett metal detectors" and it came up because the ad had the carrot in it.

Coming from an ace 200, both are a upgrade, you win either way.

Yes I agree. I got that at the beginning when I wasn’t sure about detecting but now I’m more serious about it.
