Temps climbed up to the high 60's today and gave a decent thaw, so I put in a full day at one of my favorite old farm sites. Lots of the usual iron and other scrap junk but had a few pretty good hits. Ended up with an old Ford wooden spoke wheel hub cap, some assorted buckles and saddle tack, and a couple of broken spoons.

Found three wheat cents, a 1950D, 1942 and 1912. But the real winner of the day was a silver dime. I was too afraid to rub it clean in the field and assumed it was probably a Merc based off of the dates of the wheat cents I have found there. I put it in my case and when got home gave it a gentle wash and was shocked to see it was an 1887 Seated Liberty!! In pretty good shape too with lots of detail. Really stoked as this is my oldest detecting find so far.

Sweet Seat, congrats on a fine haul. Hit'er tomorrow! Sub 8-)

Funny, I found a 1875 Seated before I found a Barber. I was showing my friend and wiping the face of it and my jaw dropped. He didn't even know what it was until I told him.

wow, very nice one at that! congrats

Nice find! I skipped barber and went to seated first myself at first too!

I'm sure you'll fill in the gaps soon. Congrats and happy hunting

Your not going to believe this I dug the same cap in Red Rock AZ today. I did not know what it was until your post. Thanks

I have high hopes of finding a seated coin sometime. Congratulations on finding your first one.

Very nice find! Thank you for sharing.
