Small knob

Hello all I am a brand new member and glad to be part of. I was just curious if anyone runs across these small knobs. I seem to find them on old farm sites. Seems awfully small to be to a door. This one obviously hit by a plow or burned lol. Any insight would be appreciated

I think alot of the older door knobs were smaller than what they are at the present time. I think the white porcelain & clear glass door knobs were that size. Welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing.

Yes. I also know there was some difference in the size and purpose of the door. Entry doorknobs were sometimes larger. A doorknob on a closet, pantry, etc. we’re often smaller. I would guess they were less expensive and served the purpose. I’ve been in a lot of abandoned houses and notice this difference often.
