I haven't gotten out much lately despite the beautiful spring weather, as I've been tied up working on house projects. Yesterday afternoon I finally got a break and decided to hit an older park close by, even though it's been pounded to death by everyone with a metal detector in a 100-mile radius.
The very first signal was a wheatie with a nice green patina. In the field I thought it was a 1940, but at home realized it was actually a 1910-S, which is a apparently a semi-key date. Unfortunately, at some point this one fought the lawnmower and the lawnmower won.
Just a few minutes later I was happy to flip another plug and see a little silver. Just a 1950 Rosie, but silver has been hard to come by for me so far this year, so I'll take it. The rest of the hunt was uneventful but I did scrounge up $1.36 in clad, which almost paid for the gas to get there.
Happy hunting to all!
