My 6th (or 7th) silver of the year this morning thought for sure it was going to be a silver dime the way it sounded on my at pro but out pops the cutest little silver spoon ever lol. Instantly became one of my favorite finds in almost two seasons of digging. Watch parts are always cool and anyone have any idea on the links? Looks like could have been suspenders or something.

Congrats on your cool old finds! :hello2: :icon_thumright: :hello2:

The small silver spoon may have been a baby's first spoon or else a salt spoon, which were used many years ago. When I was born in 1940's someone gifted my parents with a small rounded silver spoon for the new baby -- I still have it & a little silver mug with my teeth marks in it, lol. I don't think my parents' generation used the salt spoons, but my more formal great-grandmother who we visited at Thanksgiving probably had some of them tucked away, as she had on her table the now-archaic little "pushing" devices for moving food like peas around on your plate. Like you, I enjoy finding random parts of pocket watches & would love to dig an entire watch someday! :cat: Andi

cute silver

It is a childs spoon. Not a salt cellar spoon. Salt spoons are extremely small... no bigger head than a pencil eraser. The reason was cost... not of the spon... but of the salt... salt and sugar and spices in general were very expensive and mostly reserved for the wealthy... and were kept under lock and key as was tea and such.
It would be called a salt cellar spoon if so.

awesome! I found what I was told was a salt spoon as well.very small and solid silver, congrats!

That spoon is very cool and unique.

Most definitely cool. I agree, that is a cute spoon and would love to know the history behind it. I don't know about you but it's always the watch parts and never the whole watch....haha

I found a very tiny mid 1700s spoon the other day. Amazing how tiny these things are
