UPDATED PICS OF GUN.

Went back to the other day's Plan A. Had a perfect day for it too! Overcast but not raining, cool, nobody to bother me
during a nice long walk!

This is the type of hunt that I really, really enjoy! One where the hits are spaced out but not too, too sparse. Plenty of good, easy targets, ground that had been dampened a bit since the last time.

Enough chit chat, let's get to the finds!

First up, I thought I had some sort of large shell remnant:

Actually, it says something about "INTERNATIONAL........FLARE....DEC '48"
So, some sort of flare base I guess.

Whole wheat, semi toasted.

Applauding hands with a number 16 on it? Obviously from the Civil War, probably from the lost 16th regiment. ;)

Yessssss, even a nice ole silver quarter to make me happy! :)

But get a load of this one!

Now, I'm no relic guy. This came out of the ground from about 1 foot down! It looked pretty much
as it does now because I have no clue what to do to clean it up. I don't know and don't much care if it's
a real gun or a cap gun. It's survived in the ground a pretty fair amount of time, I have a little
respect for this piece. I will say, the handles appear to be bone grips.

I figure you relic guys would appreciate that I didn't do anything to it until you could see it. ;)

And, lastly:

Ya know, I'm afraid Blingie's gonna break his neck one of these days! LOL

Not too terrible. Actually, a pretty wonderful hunt!

Thanks for taking a moment to peek!

Way to go on a great hunting day! Of the 4 rings are any of them silver or gold? I love finding jewelry of any kind. The Nichols derringer is cool; it should clean up with some soap and water, then after drying, put some gun oil or baby oil on it.

Neat finds :)

The rings were all bling I'm afraid. The yellowish one I'm not positive about yet. Kind of assumed on that one a bit because it looked so bad coming out. I'll do some more testing on that one. But, yeah a fun hunt! The gun was a truly nice surprise, coming out of the ground, from that deep and in such nice condition! It'll be a nice lil show piece.

Thanks!

Thought some might like to see this fine little cap gun from a bygone era, after a bit of cleaning.

Ya know what? After however many years near a foot underground, this little toy would still be popping caps if it weren't for
the tiny little steel spring that rusted away. Everything else still works!

They sure don't make things like they used to now do they. ;)

Thanks everyone.

Of course they don't! It seems making a quick dollar by getting in and getting out makes more sense to most companies today than making a quality product and KEEPING customers. Having a " good name " means nothing because most of us can't pronounce the names of the manufacturer anymore anyway.

What can one expect. Just take the U.S. penny for example. Heck, if a kid did save pennies in his piggy bank, when he went to get them, there'd be nothing but dust. ;)

I, for one am very ashamed of a lot of what we call U.S. anymore. :dontknow:
