I usually don't find much at these military sites from the 1860s, but today was pretty good. Seated dime is an 1851. I think the cartridge is a .56-56.

If there is brass the size of that epaulette still in the ground, there could be a plate lurking about.
Looks like a Spencer casing perhaps.

I've found about a dozen epaulettes, including one that's complete with the scales. Never found a plate or buckle though.....not for lack of trying! Thanks for the comment.
