Dantheman and I hunted a few spots over turkey day weekend and - boy, it was cold, wet, and snowy! We got 3-4 inches of snow while we were detecting the woods today! We actually had to bang our coils on a tree every few feet because the snow packed on the coil and weighed it down. Great time and good finds all over. Here's my digs from the last few trips out.

That shield nickle is great, is it a 1866 or 67 with the rays? Man what a find, hell all your finds are great. Rock and Roll :icon_cheers: HH and some more good luck. JYD

That's what I like to see.....Never give in!!! I'm the same way....What's the difference in swinging over 3" of snow as opposd to 3" of grass. When it all come's down to it you're still diggin' ;D My kinda hunting!!!!

A Great Variety of finds for you guys! The star shaped item to the right of the toe tap looks almost like a cape pin or corps badge. Can you ID the item or post a closer photo?

The Shield nickel is great--not too many coming up that nice!

The 1871 IH is a good date to have too--and it looks like the condition of it actually makes it the most valuable coin dug on your hunt. :)

Are these Fisher Finds? ;D

P.S.--the button with the bird on it looks like a "Jacksonian Button."

Nice hunt and finds! Be careful banging your coil in that cold weather, might break something, LOL. HH, Mike

Awesome hunt Ian. A lot of great relics. I'm drooling over those coins. :tongue3: Job well done.

Great finds, I love the harness buckles and that shield nickle is awesome. You don't see them looking so nice as yours.

:o What a fantastic group of finds, Ian! :o LOVE that button! 8) Do you know anything on it?

Nana :)

Those are some sweet finds man.

That sheild nickle held up great. I would have froze for those finds. I've done it before.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! It gives me a good ending to the season if that happens to be my last couple hunts - but we will see, the weather could get better at some point?

That turkey/duck button - Will, have you seen something like that before? "Jeffersonian" as in President Jefferson? I have no idea - but it looks real old. I'm pretty sure it was made in Germany based on the "Extra Fein" on the back. I found that near the holed token both at about 6-8 inches deep at a homesite that was from about 1850 give or take 15 years. I'll post a closer picture of that star badge looking thing - hopefully that's something good.

The nickel is 1866 and I didn't realize that the rays were only on the nickel in 1866 and 1867. Boy, the date on this nickel is small - barely seen with a huge magnifying glass!

I'm still on the hunt for a large cent - maybe before the end of the year,

Keep hunting sites like that and you'll get your LC. Are these Fisher finds?

I look forward to seeing a close up of the badge.
