So...I bought a boat!

The parts alone are worth some money. Is the outdrive a cobra or mercruiser? Strange that water got into the cylinders just sitting. Did it get hydrolocked or is the block cracked?

They say that a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into. Another saying is boat means Break Out Another Thousand.

I actually have 4 now. I think my open bow is a perfect dive boat for inland lakes here and I have a cabin cruiser for the great lakes. Great way to get to places that are off the charts for other detectorists.

It's a Mercruiser alpha one with a 3.7 (470) four cylinder. It uses a special mercruiser aluminum block, ford 460 head, pistons, connecting rods. It is closed cooling and does have antifreeze in it. It was drained of raw water but I don't think it was fogged. At least six years under a tarp in maine where it gets humid in the summer I think caused condensation to run down intake manifold into #4 cylinder as the boat was tipped up.
I think...

Parting it out huh?

I'll take the winch handle off the trailer, three lug nuts from the right tire and the engine throttle cable.

$20. You deliver-

Lol! I'll bring your parts down this summer for my annual Florida visit!

Summer? It's time to escape the snow!

I took three plugs out and I could see rust in number 4. Number two I could see the piston and it was perfectly clean. Brand new!!! It's a shame. He had receipts for about $3500 worth of work done on motor and only used it a couple hours afterwards...
Foolish!

I wish I could but my job won't let me go in summer. The snow pays the bills...[emoji951]

thTEF7NJ8O boat 2.webp------------------thPU5VX141 boat.webp------couple of ideas for you

Ok, motor freed up on boat, advertised, kept a bunch of stuff that came with it, spare parts, tools, ect...
Swapped out hydraulic trim ram with one on my boat that was going bad...
Looks like I sold it and it should be leaving in a couple hours...! Good quick money maker!

I wish I could, problem is the dump here requires it to be cut up into tiny pieces and they charge by weight....
I suppose a foggy dark night and a brush fire would work! Lol
Just kidding!

We use to see them floating in strip mine ponds every once in a while. Everyone would use them as target practice until they sunk!:laughing7: or like you mentioned, lit on fire! They were never that nice though!:laughing7:

Congrats on the sale!

Was wondering though, since you're going to Florida anyway might it be worth more down there if you towed it down?

SO..... is it sold ? ? ?

IF it has... do tell us the dirt. :)

Ok, it just left! Advertised at $850 on craigslist and when the motor broke free I refused to budge on my price. Got my $850

I might just have to do this again!
Oh yeah, I kept the anchor, some new parts for eBay, a four jaw gear puller and a new torque wrench that came with it along with it as well as some rolls of wire and split loom tubing.
I know where there's a 21' on a nice galvanized trailer that needs work for three hundred...we will see!

You kept the anchor??

LOL how many do you want?? I even have more than the picture shows.

Congrats on a nice profit. That works for sure.

Lol, the reason I kept the anchor is it was a lot smaller than the one I normally use in my cuddy cabin. I only anchor in lakes so the small one is much more manageable. I never leave it unattended either.
I also swapped a bad hydraulic trim ram off mine for a good one off that boat.

Man that's a lot of anchors!!
