So I dug an Indian Head today...but this ain't no coin!! Help me I.D. this thing!

I went out after work today, once again to the farm in Winchester, VA. Less than 5 minutes into my hunt, right along a tree line I get one of those good signals that sound just like a cw bullet. So of course, I dig the hole and pop the plug over and grab my pro-pointer. Locate it instantly and notice it's not a bullet. Looked like a big hunk of iron until I turned it around and it was STARING back at me!! This thing looks so cool and the pictures just can not do it justice. Now the only thing is...I have no clue what it is, was or what it is from. I know there are quite a few experts here and have probably seen these dug many times. Any I.D. help would be AWESOME! Thanks guys and gals and happy hunting!

Kind of look like the old pontiac indian head, i have seen them on the car emblems and also on radiator caps from way back, of course the hair is broken off and from the neck down but its just a guess

Way to go on that find. We have never found anything like that before. Would be awesome if it was made by a solider from the cw!

I would agree, it is a radiator cap or hood emblem. I dug a similar one this spring in a field.

Thanks for the guess guys. You could very well be right...I searched it, but the design of what I found doesn't really match the aerodynamics of all the other ones I've seen. It appears to have had a larger head dress at one point.

Is the neck threaded or has it some sort of attaching point?

Sure does. Not sure if it's threaded, but definitely attached. I will clean the dirt out and post a pic of the bottom.

If not a hood ornament or part of a radiator cap, it may be the head of a cane or walking stick.

Here's a few more pics. Bottom view...clearly wasn't threaded. One with the quarter is a size reference. This has me puzzled, although similar to the pontiac or indian motorcycle ornaments...I'm not sold that it's from a vehicle yet. I appreciate everyone trying to help solve this for me.

If it was a cane head, it wouldn't necessarily have to be threaded. Could have been glued and fitted.

Talon, this is actually what I believed it to be when I first dug it. Looks to have went on the end of something like a cane or something similar.
