This is 2 days finds OF hunting where there were 25 thousand people at the beach . They must have left all there Loot on there dresser at home cause it sure as Hell wasn't at the beach,,, Im fixing to get a new hobby cause this one just isn't doing it for me ... just Little Pi$$ed Off .. Guzz1

Hey busted leg , I'm kinda staying away for a spell, I have another spot , private access only, and with out permission its Jail time ,,, I know the owner of that beach front property there , assured me an exclusive to the site ... its just a little hard to get to, to hunt everyday. Larry Im Thankful Every morning ,specially when My feet hit the floor and I realize I'm not dead.. Then I grab my detector and hit the beach and find beaver tales all day..

just kidding .. Yea we should be thankful,,, happy Hunting All :thumbsup:

Hello Guzz. Just visiting your great state and staying in Pensacola Fl. I have hunted Perdido Key beaches and Pensacola beach. I only found about 6 dollars in clad between the two beaches and lots of pull tabs aluminum drink tops and other useless trash that I picked up. The beaches here are about as bad as those in San Diego. The eye candy was great though and I still had a great time. I did not hunt the water as it was hi tide and after watching a wave knock my wife down in ankle deep water decided it was not a good idea. It was funny at first then I discovered it had ruined her very expensive cell phone and I had to replace it OUCH!!. Any way I still had a good time and even though I didn't find any rings or other jewelry I did get out got some sun and enjoyed the beach. HH and better luck next time. Ted

Hey Ted , you got to get in the water for the good loot. sorry to hear about the cell phone . ARE BEACHES here where Im at are well sanded in right now , makes it rough for finds big time .. good luck HH guzz1

hey guzz; i hunt at galveston, and for the most part the 3 big holiday's during the summer are over rated for hunting that day. On memorial day and 4th of july the summer beach is still being formed, what I mean is sand is starting to make it's way back to the shore line. and so any thing lost get covered up fairly quickly. timing and luck is the key to finding anything on these days. The best time to find Item's is during the week, early in the morning a few hours after high tide. You're probably thinking why not hunt at low tide. In the summer low tides are in the evening and thats when most of the hunters are out there and the swimmers are starting to leave. Prime hunting time right? Not always, the winds come in the afternoon and alot of times the water is higher at low tide than at high tide. and instead of taking sand off the beach in a normal daily cycle it is actually putting sand on the beach. if you're out hunting at this time you can feel how soft the sand becomes and this is not good for water hunters. but if you wait until after high tide while there is no wind, sand is being removed and so hunting is better.
Labor day is the best of the 3 holiday's to hunt. It's hotter, not as much sand is moving, most of the sand has already moved to the shore line and is more compacted. And it's the last holiday before school starts. more tourist seem to be here at this time.
Most of us who metal detect have gotten discouraged at some point in time. usually when we first started. it's no different than anything else in life. sometimes it's good sometimes it bad. I also know that you don't learn much through the good times. But you learn alot through the bad times if you stick with it. hh willia
