Metal detecting for mines would be pretty nuts, rambo just makes it look too easy though.

Sad reality, for some places.
Our metal detectors club a few yrs back, got together some detectors and donated them to some of the guys/gals overseas, for just the above reason. Our own government must have been too backed up in the paper pushing, to get our guys needed equipment.

How much do government detectors cost?

They have volunteers here in vietnam that go out and detect all manner of war debris. Not my style. I'm a bet nervous going anyplace back off the beach.

The sad part is there are small anti personal mines that are app. 4" in dia and about 1" thick that are composed of plastic. It would take a top of the line PI to locate them with a lot of luck. Sad fact of life, some don't care what happens AFTERWARDS. Frank...

I thought the military had a vehicle for finding mines. What I saw had some rotary system with chains or something that would hit all over the place trying to find and detonate the mines. Almost looked like a street sweeper of sorts but with chains flying all over.

They starting fitting the flails on tanks in the second world war. The high plastic low metal content of the mines nowdays has led to hybrid detectors like the Vallon Minehound Dual Sensor Technology machine. Its a combination of pulse and ground pentrating radar. Gauges postion, mass, depth and cross section of the target.

I have a brand new vallon vmc1 for sale
