Heartwarming, but I have to say I think it is all a setup. Check out
the hair on the guy at about 55 seconds into it...long hair, but just
getting home from being in the service?

When I was in the (Germany)Army back in the early 70's There was a guy in our group from Michigan that had loner hair and he had a over sized hat and woulld tuck his hair up into his hat and got away with it for a long time like that !

When I was in Airforce , there were few with longer hair who hid it with their hats and a few even wore short wigs to hide it.

Getting away with it depended on your job, how observant and strict your commanding officer was, how you hid it, and just plain luck.

Long straight hair was easier to hide than long curly hair too. My hair was curly, I wasnt going to wear a wig, so I just waited till I was told to get a haircut.

2 of the men I was in RVN shaved their heads for some reason and because of that they got a Artical 15 for it !
