Hi All,

Dug this up from a burn pit of an old house (around 1910s), but land was in use since 1850s by military.
It appears to resemble a collar disc, but it has more to it then just a collar disc. The back shaft is hollow, and has a square pegged rivit pressed into it. The disc also has a offset peg, and there is a seperate plate with three rivets and it is cut such that it allows about 75-80 degrees of movement. The US part is around 1-1/16 inches in diameter.

What is this for (Uniform of a horse?)

Re: US collar disc-like item??

those appear to be close, but those seem to be fastened directly to the metal.

The piece I have rotates once it is riveted to what it is suppose to be.

I did find the following picture online, and it appears to be a possible id, but hard to tell from one photo.

Found it. Scabbards were rolled sheet-steel with leather frog/belt loop; circular brass "rosette" is attached to swivel on frog.
Appears to be a swivle rosette for Springfields equipped with bayonets... (1860s to 1900s?)
