It is indeed a Bolton Wanderers cnetenary F.A. (Football Association) cup medallion, but not from the series that @pepperj linked to, where it clearly has a 'U' shaped shield. I believe it to be this design, where the shield comes to a point at the bottom and has an archer in it (Robin Hood, actually, as symbolism for Notts County):
