Whats the large concave thing to the left of the picture?

Its a piece of an artillary shell that exploded (frag).

Nice finds. What's the oval thing at the bottom?

Nice civil war relics ! You are fortunate to have sites like that available to you ! The only civil war relics I find up here in Maine are from returning survivors of the great conflict ! Maine did do her part in the war though ! I have one small documented muster site here in my town That I have hunted ! Though I also found out they did not get issued their uniforms untill they were marched south to Augusta Maine the state capital. 80 miles south of me. Anyways !! Nice finds !! MaineRelic

Some cool stuff. I see you got one of those rare exploding eagle buttons. :laughing7: They are getting to be a bit to common in my area :'(

Sure did. Same way with that spencer. Its hard digging rocky terrain. The signals jump around and while digging out stuff the rocks dont help matters.

Nice Relics Mike, looks like you had a good hunt !

Yep those bullets with the brass casings are getting harder to get out of the ground whole too. It used to be they came out pretty nice but anymore you move the ground around them and they break apart. And some people would have us believe that remaining in the ground is not hurting the artifact.

flattened nickle
Are flattened nickels this large and oval? Have you seen flattened nickels like this before? If so, why are they prevalent? Thanks
