Got out for a little after work this evening and the weather was perfect for diggin'! I got onto a good spot pretty quick, first good target I dug was the small pistol bullet. Then I got the really nice large eagle button. Was really happy to see that in the plug 'cause I haven't dug any nice eagle buttons in a few months! I decided to take a stroll in the woods and ended up finding a whole bunch of modern gun shells, but did find one cw pistol bullet and a small round ball. I left the woods after that and went back to the spot and almost as soon as I started swinging I got a really nice eagle cuff button! After that a few more bullets, spencer, 3 ringer, button back and on my way back to the truck found this unknown brass piece pictured. Any ideas? Thanks for looking and HH!

Nice saves Matt!

Not a clue on the brass, but ya got a nice mess of relics for yourself. Good hunting.........................

Awesome relics, great saves!!

Nice grouping of finds. The unknown brass piece is a hook that is attached to the scabbard of a sword.

Check the link above for an example of this on an 1840s musicians sword. I have found many of these broken off in Civil War camps as well as a few whole ones.

Another example. Nice Civil War Ames Mfg NCO Sword & Scabbard from fromthepastantiques on Ruby Lane

I believe that's it! Thanks for the comments and help on the I.D.!
