Got out for a couple of days this week, and met up with a couple of folks I met through here to go out and see what lay in the dirt. I'll leave their names out, and they can identify themselves if they wish, but one of the guys found a couple of nice flat buttons, and a very cool copper spoon, along with some other goodies. The other found a couple of fired pistol balls, a harmonica reed and some other assorted goodies. I found one fired pistol ball, and a pretty cool blacksmith's hammer head. We met up with a very friendly local drunk who supplied us with bananas and watermelon (??go figure??) and took us to his place on the mountain that apparently Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and the rest of the entire Confederate Army swarmed through during the Shenandoah Vally Campaign. Either the entire Confederate Army drank a lot of Milwaukees Best, or this guy has been using his property for his own personal dumpster for several decades. Anyway, despite the brutally hot temps, and very high humidity, it was a good day, and we found some areas that showed some promise to return to when it wasn't 95 degrees out with near 100% humidity. There were so many iron targets in the ground, that we skipped most of them, but here are a couple of things from that day, and one of my other trips down to Stafford.
