luv them most of the time but certainly a lot of digging when you run without disc 8) dawg You might like these as well, the old hammer was used for shoeing a horse, it is a little different, the spike is 10" long and the funny looking item, it came out of the same site I found the nails, I found part of an exploded cannon ball in the same field, this item I think was used for cleaning the bore of a 4lb cannon. It does look like any I have seen, but who knows. Nt.creskol said:I like iron relics, too! Nice variety of early nails!
Thanks Creskol, old iron is always an intersting target, you never know what you will uncover. I use my garrett freedom ace for relic hunting for old iron, my whites 5900 does a fine job at finding small and deep targets. The muskett balls blew my ears off, nice finds you have there. I started to us dubbin on my iron items, I also use liquid floor wax.NT.creskol said:Thanks for sharing those relics! They are very nice! Good job on the cleaning an preservation!
Here are a few pieces of iron I dug yesterday. They are still curing, so the wet chemical appears as blue in the photographs.
