Beautiful chert. Do you find a lot of Tecovas and how does it differ from Alibates? Thanks for posting the photo.

I have just a small amount of both, 'bout half from SE Colorado and the rest from kinfolk down in the Panhandle. The good Tecovas is a blood red & translucent yellow[all the other colors too] like the bi-face & rock, the Alibates has all the colors and can be semi-clear. Posted some "blue" on the other Alibates Dolomite topic & a link to the quarry site. Sometimes it is hard to tell which is which. Good search topics on this forum & the web.

Southwestern US has great old occupation eras, these are of the Mogollon and were aquired from the landowner on Mule Creek, NM.
The pot shards are like those of the earlier Membres people, the obsidian is thought to be the largest geologic deposite in NA, dates go back to
500BC-1300AD. The largest Marekanite [Apache Tear] hammerstone is 65mm [huge speciman] A small sample of the Pueblo culture.
