Some Notes Re: Construction of the Money Pit

Although after rethinking my last statement... this could have very well have been an "exploratory" dig... by someone trying to find something.

Perhaps even a mine like thing.
Cybil...
You must see the difference between... a hole dug to FIND something... and a supposed hole to HIDE something.
so what your saying is that there could be something hidden on the island

Nothing of extreme value would have been hidden there... like that.. in that manner.
It defies common logic...
Not to mention common sense...
OR....
Calculations of men who would be deemed "in charge" of said "valuables".

That... IS what i am saying.

The only treasure to be found on OI is the money to be made off the captured imaginations of those who believe... or want to believe in the "legend".

Even if....... it were all true...
Anything that might have been there...
IS... and has been.............

Long gone.

Welp, part of my theory just went into the latrine.

Turns out the Halifax Co dug a 110 ft shaft "about 200 ft south of the MP" in 1867 according to the OI show, then tunneled towards the MP and got flooded out....

So, it's not an original mine entrance.

Sigh.

Well..... it was original for the Halifax guys. :)

Here's a snippet from season 6 COOI. Don't know where they got it from, or if it is true.

At the 30 ft level, there was a layer of blue(?) clay. It seems established that this is used for water proofing.

To me this indicates something below was "perishable", like paper or gunpowder. Further that this was part of a second event, i.e. the mine dug, abandoned, then someone coming along late, buried something.

A mine only would not need water proofing.

Ground water seeps up as well as down. Our well (in NYS) is 180 ft deep, but we have artesian springs all around the property.

A fair point.

If it was put in place to prevent water moving upward, does that mean something ABOVE
30 ft shouldn't get wet?

Note that sea level is 30 ft down the MP, so seawater inflow could never get above this level

What explanation would cover this?

And the very next episode said the clay was at 40 feet.
When you have two facts from the same source, and the second time you hear it and it is not stated as a correction of the first time, you have to toss both versions.

The question has come up before - how reliable is COOI as a source of new facts about Oak Island?

gotta respect the crazy men that dug the searcher tunnels, no way would i even think of going down there. someone did as we saw the shafts being exposed. i do not feel there is treasure there though. just brave but crazy men looking for a myth.

Starting to change my perception of the events on OI to a wider view.

A point that has been made that it makes no sense to bury something so deep and want to retrieve it.

This is based on the assumption that when the whatever was buried no one else inhabited the island, but COOI diggings have shown this was probably not true.

So.....if you were burying something on an INHABITED island, you'd bury it deep and inconvenient to fetch, for the minute you left someone would be trying to dig it up.

So.....if you were burying something on an INHABITED island, you'd bury it deep and inconvenient to fetch, for the minute you left someone would be trying to dig it up.
That's also counterintuitive. If the island is inhabited, burying something, say, 10 feet deep could probably be done in an evening without anyone noticing. But burying something 100+ feet deep? That's a big operation that'll take a while, and everyone will know. A much better option is to select an island with no inhabitants. Plenty to choose from in Mahone Bay.

Also....
Anyone with common sense would know...

Picking a place to dig 100 foot down with any success would not include an island in the choices.
#1 reason being...
The odds of flooding would be too great.

Hence....
Why IMO the hole was dug solely for water to begin with... OR.... was dug by a madman.

Try this idea for size.

In the winter of 1782 New York City fell to Washington's army. In retreat an element of the British forces passes through OI burying an arms cache in a deep hole that already existed.
(There were some finds that suggest a British military presence there.)

The hole must have been known to direct the British there, hence the choice for that island.

So now it's a question of what you have to do to leave something of value behind unguarded where it's obvious you buried it, AND there are people around who know you did it.
It only needs to be safe for maybe a couple of years, as a retreat means regrouping to continue the fight.

Did I mention its winter?

Note that an army force pausing in any one spot is going to attract attention, especially in a conflict environment.

That’s the problem with oak island.

Everytime fictional stories about a fictional treasure are fully debunked, someone invents yet another fictional story.

Although I've heard many arguments, im like armchair where no one theory seems to answer all of the questions. So continuing to find a theory that addresses all the questions is a good thing. So for me to think it's been debunked the theory needs to explain after digging a 30 ft hole without finding anything they were able to get funding and return 8 years later

The theory i think fits most of the clues goes back to the the COOI episode where the mcguinness sisters said the three boys found three chests but could only go down 30 ft.
I believe this is because it started getting dangerous but leaving them thinking there is more treasure if they could just go deeper and why they came back in 1803 with the Onslow company.

They used cribbing and dug 90ft but no mention of cribbing from previous digs.
There are contradicting accounts whether they encountered log platforms below 30ft. So im inclined to think there were none.

The only issue is the stone tablet they allegedly found at 90ft. I am not doubting it existence because it was on display in a store window before getting used in the tanner but that doesn't mean it found 90ft under ground.

So you agree that all of the story treasures are made of theories. Good! That’s a start to enlightenment about the scam of oak island.

FYI..the mcquinness brothers were the first scammers. No part of their fairy tale has ever been supported by facts.

I think there must have been something significant on OI for 3 teenager boys to dig a 30ft deep hole.
If they didn't find the 3 boxes of treasure than I agree they scammed the onslow company. If they did, then I would think their intentions were above board.

After that you're probably right

Since we can easily deduce that the 9 levels are given for the 9 digits that make up the first cycle in base 10 numbering before we return to zero (monad) and indicate that by adding a digit for the powers of 10 we might want to ask: why base 10 at all? Why give a story with this 9 and 10 emphasis? What is 90 to you? Is it not a right angle's value in degrees? So we are given a vertical line suggestion for our shaft which is constructed like a ladder that rises from a mystery vault which is associated with 40 in many ways. This is not traditionally a motif that involves weights. It is an old one from when there was an idea floating around about the world emanating from concentric spheres. This, of course, came out of a belief that higher realities were also under the influence of geometric principals where even numbers had female (birthing) qualities. We can represent the money pit visually by showing an overlay of the first unit polygons. That looks like this:

At the core in orange is a Vesica whose number is given by 153 in the geometric esoteric tradition. That, in the OI story, is the depth of the vault in feet.

You should think of the Vesica as containing the mystery of life (2 engendering 1 in birth). If you construct to the 20-gon you will get in the vertical a central ascent of 9 levels (the middle way of Freemasonry). 20 is the number given to death. It encapsulates the mystery of death. To search in life for the origins of the mystery of life and dealt is not going to produce the treasure which is promised to all, allegedly. That treasure is given the number 40, and it stands for the afterlife.

As for weights, we are given 2 000 000 pounds in association to 40 on the stone (omen) with 40 characters if we want to conflate weight with values in pounds sterling. 2 x 1 000 000. Where 2 is female and 1 000 000 is the number given by Dee to Pneumaikos (spiritual insight) in his tree of rarity (Arbor Raritatis). That is in contrast to the branch with the powers of 10 that refer to rationality.

It really is about recognizing the motifs with the OI story, imo. In the tired old story the 7th must die before the treasure is accessed by anyone. The 8th is the Anti-Christ who will be defeated by the upright men. I don't have a clue why this even resonates any more. It's 2 century old Masonic allegory. Rick is doing his best to repackage it for modern consumption.

Hercules carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. When he wanted to go search for the golden apples (symbols of total knowledge) he sat it on the twin pillars (Jachin and Boaz). The pillars are sometimes given as the sides of the ladder in the ascent. The meaning would be that it all rests on the mystery of creation if you are looking for a suggestion to accept.
Ma bains hurt!
