Some people are pigs.

Your right - a lot people are slobs !
Whenever I hunt any site I try to leave it cleaner than when I got there.
Also, you see more and more sites banning metal detecting because idiots go in with shovels and make a mess.
If you hunt with respect it's good public relations for the hobby and you'll probably be welcomed back again.
i Hunt a public park and have gotten to know the ground crew there. When they see me they come over with their golf cart and let me empty my pouch into the bag they are putting trash in. I agree it’s good PR for the hobby.

One bottle cap park site detectorists stagger away from after being overwhelmed on , I dig a couple feet of each visit.
Don't know what generated the amount there years ago , but they're there! Piles of them.

Back in the 60's when I was a kid my older brother took me on a trip to the Smokey Mountains. He was a great nature lover. We were driving & a car ahead of us was snapping Polaroid pictures & throwing the development paper out the window as they drove along. My brother was furious, had a bad temper & was 6' 5 inches tall. When the people pulled into a senic overlook he literally drug the twerp out of his car & threw him across the hood. I thought the worst was gonna happen but after threatening him with death we drove off. I've never forgotten that scene.

The one thing I always see is when people walking their dogs will go through the effort of bagging their dogs poop & then leave the bag of dog poop for someone else to throw out.

Ok, it’s not news that a lot of folks just don’t care. I went to a very well maintained county park this morning. It is always nicely mowed, trash hauled frequently, great shelter house and playground with restroom facilities. I ran my detector around the shelter and the tot lot. I absolutely gave up on trying to count the beer bottle caps. These were around 1” deep for the most part. Plenty of trash cans, but what the hell, throw it on the ground. I’d think they would appreciate having such a nice place to go. They are nothing but Advantage Takers, and they sicken me. I’ll get off the stump now. I did haul out some trash finds. Kind of offset their trash footprint a little.
I work maintenance at our town parks and yes people don’t give a sh** , I mean would you trash your own house, yard, car?

I've seen plenty that do. I don't see how they can stand it.
Around here, you can tell when they pack up and leave in the middle of the night. The gravel road ditches are full of trash bags, ruined furniture, broken toys, etc. Sometimes 2 or 3 pit bulls are turned loose and roam free also. Pretty sad. They know they’ll get away with it, and they do.

I live close to a neighborhood that has self help houses, Those are the ones that you and family help to build your own house and you get the house highly discounted and almost every house was being demolished by the new owners because they had all lived in the projects or apartments and were used to others having to do the repairs, then once they realized they had to fix the houses out of thier own pockets they stopped destroying them.

I mean I get there are trashy people but some of the people that come to the parks you can tell they know better. Or at least raise the kids with better manners but the moms are to busy on their phones to even know what’s happening lol

I feel your pain. When I was a park ranger in Oklahoma, after a busy holiday weekend we would find all kinds of trash just left on campsites, sometimes bagged up or just scattered around. We asked some folks why they did that and they would say 'Well, y'all got people workin here who clean that up, don't y'all?' Yeah, because now we have to. As a State Parker Ranger collecting your camping fee, I get your home mailing address on the receipt. There was once an incident where some particular trashy campers went home and a couple of days later their boxed up trash got mailed to their home address. Took a little effort and cost a little bit, and not sure who would have done that.
I don't know who would've done that either, but whomever it was, they were genius for coming up with that idea. lol haha

I have one park I go to that the Mom sits in her car and her kid follows me around like I'm his babysitter. The Mom has never even come up and spoke to me she just lets her kid wander around by himself and he is only 7 or 8. She don't know me from Adam. I could be some freak and she don't give a damn.

Its sad that people are that way. When my husband, our dog (yap we even pick up after her) and I go out camping, then side by side running trails- we have a trash bag (the big black one and a 13 gallon one) that we pick up trash. When we are detecting the same applies. Then after all done camping it goes home with us and in the trash.

That’s great to hear. I try to always leave each site better than I found it too. 🏆

There were a few places around here in NW Georgia where you could cookout and put your kayak in for free. I know the owners very kind people. But it only took a year and they closed it down. People were throwing trash and driving through the grass getting wheels tearing everything up. And it was FREE!! I still have permission to go I just have to call. Very sad people can’t appreciate something that someone else has worked hard for their whole lives.

My local park has a soccer field, I tried to detect the sidelines and holy crap the number of corona, modelo, Dos Equis and Carta blanca caps is insane so I gave up. I watched a guy last night at the gas station walk 50 feet away from the pump to litter when there was a garbage can less than 3 feet from his car on the island.🤪

With those kind of beer caps I would still try there, most of my gold and silver I find are religious pendants from people from South of the border. If you have an iron rejection turn it on or notch out beer cap numbers.

Pigs wouldn't even leave this much crap. Too bad there raen't cameras on these beaches where they could grab the license plates of these slobs. The solution...epoxy the crap to their cars and they have to pick up the garbage there for the next ten years!

I agree. It’s part of the whole feeling of entitlement some folks have. They don’t care, as long as they aren’t inconvenienced in any way.
