went out this morning with my brother. it was his first time out so i thought we should go somewhere where he could find some targets. we went to two schools.at the one school i dug a gold plated childs ring. and at the other one a silver plated ring and a junk ring. i didnt bother to post a pic of the junk ring though. i got to thinking about the "depth post" on here, and remembered some of you guys thought that maybe i was going to fast. i slowed to a crawl and pulled a 57d roosie and a 42d merc! this was in a spot that i have hunted before.i also got a 57 wheatie and the usual clad. looks like i was going too fast! thanks to everyone who offered advise. ;) every trip out is a learning expieriance.

Really awesome finds. Congrats on the great silver

Way to go, Red. Those rings look pretty nice. :)

How'd your brother do? ::)

he did ok,found some clad. it was funny, when i first got there he had started without me, and you should have seen him! he didnt wrap the coil wire around the shaft, so it was flopping all over the place! he had the coil on upside down, and the sensativity cranked all the way up. first thing he says is " this sucks, i cant find anything!" ;D once i got him straightened out and showed him how to pinpoint he did fine. i think hes hooked.........he wants to go again this morning! ;)

Congrats on the Finds Hollow.

Nice looking Rings.

Lol on the Coil wire & upside down Coil :D
Makes me wonder how many out there without someone to point things out, are still swinging like that ???

Happy Hunting !
Jeff

It looks like you had a great day hunting the schoolyard in between teaching your brother the first steps in metal detecting. Very funny!
Great job on slowing your pace and hitting on that silver. HH!

heres the real zinger! he dug a 22 peace dollar and a 42 quarter in the same hole today!! his 2nd time out! i almost killed him! :o

them's grounds for a beat down ,tell him its the initiation when finding better targets.... ;D

Great digs! Speed is very important.

When I find a potential hot spot I can spend 1 hour hunting a 10 foot square area.

Most people hunt way too fast and this is major reason for their poor finds.

Speed, not depth, is the major issue while hunting most good sites.
