Hello all,

I'm new to treasurenet, and was wondering if the tremendous concentration of knowledge could shed any light as to what this thing might be...

My father dug it up on a family farm in Southeast Kansas in a spot were they discarded their garbage over the fence. Nobody has lived there since the 50's and we don't know much about the people who lived there except supposedly the man of the house fought in WW2.

As an interesting aside only a few weeks earlier my dad dug up an Australian coin from the 40's which I have to assume is related and perhaps he fought in the Pacific theater as to our knowledge the family was pretty poor and I can't imagine how else he came upon anything from Australia. It looked to me almost like a Japanese character (although I could be way off as I speak no Japanese).

Anyway my dad was racking his brains about what it could be and I figured I'd enlist the aid of the internet. If anyone has any idea what it could be or what the symbol means I'd be delighted to hear it.

Thanks

PS. Just read the please read before posting thread, admittedly a little late. Like I mentioned I don't have it but I'll try and get a pic of the back ASAP. Also as I recall the size is comparable to like a Kennedy Half Dollar or maybe slightly larger and I don't believe there were any inscriptions we could identify.
