Saturday I asked for permission to hunt around an older looking house, but the owner directed me to a foundation on his property which he said was older. The cellar hole looked old enough, but unfortunately it was occupied into the 1960s when it burned down. Around the foundation was a thick layer of modern trash, so I ranged out a bit trying to get some evidence of just how old the site may be. The only two items that give me some hope are the strap tippet and the drawer pull, which are things that show up on late 18th / early 19th C sites. I did find a cool woman's broach and a creepy doll head.

Here is the Broach. I'm not sure what it is made of. but I suspect it is plated. A jewelry expert dates it to about 1900/1910.

Has anyone ever got the feeling that you're being watched when you're out in the woods?
I left her in the woods, but now I have to go back and get her because my sister wants her :laughing7:

UPDATE: I went back at lunch today and secured the doll head for my sister. She was right where I left her, patiently waiting...
I was in there for one minute tops and and found a tick on my leg when I got back in the car.

Here is the take from this place. The owners told me it had been hunted before, but I think it's worth another visit.

Beautiful brooche and I wouldn’t touch that doll head...
Thanks. I touched her and nothing happened :laughing7:

Yeah like really....
The creepiest doll head ever posted.
Congrats on that.

Jeez....it’s gonna bother me all day now I can tell
Thanks Dave. I think she belongs on the Banner :laughing7:

Very cool broach, congrats!
Thanks!

cool, kinda. love the broach, not crazy about the doll head......
I agree

Victorian brooch / sash pin IMO.
Yep, that's what I was told on the Facebook ID ME Forum

Looks like she has blue eyes and shes keeping one on you
I don't understand what creepy girls see in me :icon_scratch:

"You'd better be nice to me!"

:)
So far I have found her, taken her out of the woods, and she's taking a bath right now. Then she is going to move on to her forever home with my sister. I don't know what more I can do :laughing7:

She’s not gonna be happy about being separated from her broach!
Congrats On the new spot and finds Steve.
If she gives me any lip, I'll take right back where I found her :laughing7:

Nice looking brooch
Thanks, I agree!

Ticks - man I hate those things. That freakin' doll head will probably haunt you and show up everywhere you turn
As long as she stays out of my bedroom and my dreams at night :laughing7:

That doll head is the creepiest thing I've ever seen on this site. No chance I would bring that thing back with me. That's how horror movies start. Cool brooch though!
Is it Banner worthy creepy? I say yes :laughing7:

Beautiful brooch! I would like to see your redrum doll in the What Is It? Maybe someone can find what she should look like new.
I have her soaking in a bucket of soapy water. I'll be doing some preliminary cleaning tonight and look for any markings.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!
Thanks RJ

Awesome finds, love the brooch and other finds, doll head is a little creepy!

I've always felt bad for dolls that are deemed "creepy." Very sad, that a child once loved a doll a long time ago, only for it to be hated by all years later. Would make for a touching children's book. That said, I don't want to be in the same time zone as that horrible thing you found in the woods.

Very good point about how that doll started in life with a child that loved her, and now is just a creepy head in the woods. It would make a good children's story. But this time it has a happy ending as she is now in my utility sink in a bucket getting her first bath in 50 years. And my sister is going to give her a forever home. I just hope she isn't cursed or a haunter :laughing7:

lovely broach, here's a weird head I dug a few years ago, love find stuff like thisheade.webp

Great broach! A very pretty piece. The doll head....kind'a disturbing. No way I'd bring that into my house!

I really hope that doll head didn't wink at ya

Nice finds Steve.

Yeah my wife would have liked that creepy ass doll head.

I'd be doing the same going back for it.

Looks like you made some nice finds in an already hunted area Steve. Is that Mrs. Chuckie ? !!

I really hope that doll head didn't wink at ya
She was winking at me. Now her eyes open when she goes from horizontal to vertical. I have a good video of that :laughing7:
