We needed to be close by the house for family reasons, so went to a very near field that isn't on the hit list. It's a large field which has no settlements on it, but must have seen a fair amount of activity. The stuff is all spread out & of lots of different periods. A pretty noisey field with lots of lead but in this instance the lead is not associated with the usual settlement.
4 hours for me & 2.5 for Dad

8 Scrappies
3 Lead Tokens
Early Navy Button
Mystery Y Shaped bronze item - broken at all 3 points, looks Bronze Age, but could be Iron Age or Roman:icon_scratch:

Less than a mile from the Roman Town & part of the wider farming complex.

I travel quite a lot through your area and have often wondered if I would see you and your dad in a field, do you hunt any were near a Motorway.:dontknow: I have noticed some very nice fields when traveling through. That looks like a very big anchor button by the way.

Its an officer button 1825-30s. I have 4 small ones of this type but this is my first large one, so happy with that.

No we don't detect many sites in view of the motorway. Most of our sites are some way off the Roman Roads.

For a field that, "has had no settlements on it, but must have seen a fair amount of activity", you did well mate! :occasion14:
I like the Sullivan Tipson's & the 'anchor' officers button!

Yeah, it's within the old Roman administrative boundry, so there was some kind of farming activity, just not a house site.

Hi Cru , actually for a change I see a few items like I find regularly in fields out here besides the four hole buttons. Thats probably not a good thing =D Still none of those Roman coins show up out here must be nice getting the old round greens!
