I have been detecting a private property in Waller Texas. I already found a lined I P Tait & co Limerick button, so I know the property dates back to the civil war era. I just found this relic and the text is almost complete. Pretty sure the 1863 is the patent date. Any ideas what it is?

BB, Great finds and saves of the CW relics. Love the Block I Infantry button. I have got to find one of these before I check out. Love that green patina.

Congrats on your finds...The Groce family had property in the area around Hempstead and Waller, and there was a Union prison camp nearby as well. That whole area was an overland transit point for troops and Home Guard units coming and going from central Texas.

Nicely Done, and Welcome!
