Detector(s) used
ctX 3030 6 &17 inch coils all with shafts... 2 x Sovereign GT's... Modified Excal11 with PP switch on the handle and Connection for GG Amphibians & Skullies headphones by JBN ...Cibola C/Sweep coil
Primary Interest:
Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Walked all over a well used beach at low tide signals where few and far between then I got a really quiet signal so quite I nearly missed it. Had the Sovereign GT set in All metal (reverse hunting) with 8 inch coil and sensitivity on max for the best depth. Could just hear a whisper of a signal. Dug a couple of scoops out and checked it in Disc still really a soft signal, but now had a nice Gold tone to it although still very slight. Next scoop, out comes a 9k Gold ring. I then followed this up with a heavy Stainless steel ring and a

little skull bit of jewellery probably from charm bracelet while where so sanded in I like to vary between coils and my detectors to stay used to them and keep my ear in.

Very nice! I tried reverse hunting yesterday, but I just don't trust my ear yet.

Awesomer! This is exactly why I setup my Excal so I can swap coils. Sometimes, on even fairly clean beaches, I'm much better off with the small coil and running the sensitivity at max. It just seems to do a much better job of ferreting out those really faint/narrow responses. I use the larger coils primarily for those seek & recon trips when I want to cover a lot of ground, but if you see me on the beach with the small coil then I'm generally in that seek & find probing mode. Typically I find more with the larger coil but the largest percentage of good finds I make come with the small coil.

Great finds!! The GT is awesome......

That's a Cool One holer.....We all need more of those!! :icon_thumright:

I like the GT.... hits hard on very small targets even with the 13" coil i use. I like it a lot better now that ive adjusted the tones to my liking. Sounds like Joes been busy and has something headed your way. Who needs Santa when you have Joe........
