Hello, Treasurenet-ers! I am about a month into owning my first metal detector - Whites Coinmaster GT - replacement NEL 2D hunter coil - Garrett Pro pinpointer (which, incidentally, false fires in the wet salty sand, but is fantastic everywhere else), and I just love it. I haven't found too many interesting items, mostly trash and a few modern coins... oh, and a quite thin 14k gold ring with a very small gem in it - most likely zirconium, per my research - YAY!, but every hit excites me, so digging trash doesn't bothers me too much, but it can get old. I love to hunt on the beach, but my setup gives me way too many false signals when I get to the wet sand, so all I get is the dry sand, and no one seems to be dropping much change, let alone jewelry. That is my scenario, and any input or tips for these conditions would serve me well =D Thank you in advance! I would like to find a club somewhere near me here (Treasure Coast/Space Coast, Florida, Melbourne specifically).

Is the Propointer new? A properly working propointer should not false in the wet sand......at least that's my experience.

The salt water makes the pinpointer false. No need for one at the beach, just buy yourself a scoop.

Hey, Fletch. Yea, I did get my first sand scoop this week, but it is terribly un-functional - the handle is at a 90 degree angle, about 3/4 of the way to the back of the scoop, so I have to bend so far to dig in that I end up kneeling anyways. I need to get a 45 degree elbow joint so I can dig in with my foot.

Wel-come aboard ... :hello2:

Welcome! As the year rolls on your finds will increase exponentially!
