Is there a reason you are posting pictures of crappy replica coins with no description or other information other than filling up the boards with spam?:icon_scratch:

fishwacker,
One treasure Net Forum Guideline states: If you disagree with another member's post, make your comments in a polite and respectful manner. I find your comment outside the Guideline.

That coin is in immaculate shape for being over 300 years old... It's obviously a fake... It doesn't take a expert to figure that out

The condition has nothing to do with it other than maybe making a person form an opinion at first glance.... there's plenty of high grade 300 year old coins that exist. It's fake because it's fake.

I'm with BWDave on this one. Not a month ago someone posted about a "meteorite" they supposedly found but couldn't ID at all yet had a TNET screen name of "meteoritehunterpro" and I sorta pounced on the post in a similar dismissive manner that fishwacker did on this. And I got called out on it. I apologized and life went on.

I will say though, in the interest of decorum and keeping people on this site that a post with little to no information being posted in the "What is it" forum kind of implies they wish to know more about it. Plain and simple. However, there should be a little wiggle room on this and other posts to be a little blunt about what exactly you want to know even if it's a simple 'I have no idea what this is" and here's a picture...sick em!

jbradley, this poster at a coin forum was asking about the same coin, and another
poster gave a good answer to what the coin is , IMO

poster asking with clickable imgs

poster answering
The design looks like a Spanish 8 Real coin of 1701. The problem is that the 8 real was minted in silver not gold. The weight is also off the 8 real should weigh 27.7 grams, even the gold 8 Escudos of the period should weigh 27.7 grams. Sorry to say but I think this is a modern reproduction of an 8 real made to look like a gold coin

Jbradley posted this two years ago. Twlee33 seems to have dug up, and resurrected, an old thread.

Coinfinder3000, more than likely your coin is a fake. In the future, if you would like to know about a coin or anything else, please do not resurrect old threads. Instead, please use the "Post New Thread" button in the top left hand corner above the rest of the threads. BTW, welcome to TNet!
