Got out for a couple of half day hunts this week. Targets were hard to come by, but at least a few decent quality items showed up. Aside from an unexpected cob and a strange little cut copper, a large decorative leather ornament was also dug along with a few misc buttons and musketballs. The ground cover in the cultivated fields is quickly getting out of control due to the extremely warm February (3[SUP]rd[/SUP] warmest on record), so it looks like this season will have an earlier than normal ending.

Great day! Love the cob. Never found one of those. I guess I got to get myself down to Virginia. Any idea what the copper is?

Great finds you dug there.

More nice finds.
Keep em coming

Sweet cob Bill, one of my favorite finds of all time. Not bad for a pounded site!

That's a pretty big cob you got there. We just got 2 feet of snow where I am unfortunately. Glad it's warm for you down there in Virginia. Keep at it.

Excellent hunt Bill,, quality over quantity all day long.
Congratulations on your finds .

Congrats on a stellar find.

Will done Bill.

That's one great looking cob... they always have more of a "punch" to em as far as coins are concerned to me.

Love it.

Cob and a Cut...Awesome :notworthy:

Congrats on the cob and the cut copper Bill.

Does the brass piece in the fifth photo have lugs/attachments on the back?

Yes, it has several hooks.

Cool finds, that cob awesome! Any kind of a date on it, or is the date worn away?

Well done my man....well done. It looks like somebody is not messing around. I hope you look back at this stretch and are very proud of your accomplishments Bill. You write an incredible book that sold out quickly, you dug a complete transitional onion bottle from the late 17th Century and you’ve started this season with some other fantastic finds including a nice cob.

Congrats on your cob! :occasion14:

Awesome recovery..love seeing those things surface..

Amazing recoveries Bill. Congratulations!

Congratulation on finding two more Spanish silvers to add to your already extensive collection Bill
