Speaking of Junk

This is the Unglamourous side of the hobby - Junk that I have dug up in the last few months
minus alot of the pulltabs because I was saving them for some donations for the club - the
picture is deceiving that pile is five inches deep - Cavedweller

I agree. All to often people only show the good stuff and you don't just find good stuff. It take a lot of junk to finally find something worth posting. That is why I post every thing I find.

Cavedweller......To be as productive as you are.....it takes work and persistence.....and to those who think its a piece of cake, all they have to do is count the pieces of junk and think how many scoops of sand it took to build that pile of junk.....my hat is off to you...rdi

That is one thing you will never ever see in an ad. We would have a thousand less people if they didn't make it seem like you buy a detector turn it on start walking hundred feet and when the day is over you have fifty 18K gold rings........

THAT IS WHY I WEAR FOOTWEAR TO THE BEACH NOW. USED TO SURF AND DIVE, NOW I JUST CLEAN THE BEACH....LOL,....MY FIRST PAYED FOR ITSELF TWICE THE FIRST YEAR IN GOLD AND CLAD, PENNIES NOT INCLUDED

Haven't done the beaches here much yet. Hope to have a good scoop soon.
Mostly "Tot-lots" with the big bark chunks. Little wires and bent paper clips are
the most found. You got your share it looks like. Hate to think of bare feet on the beach
with that stuff. I don't drink beer in bottles because of some people.
Good job my friend. Making the world better one person at a time.

Nice job!, yes i agree... if nothing else, we do remove lots of trash that may otherwise never have been collected , making our play areas " beaches'woods'water where ever" Cleaner!

Really impressive! Each time I see the junk I have bent down for, scooped up and sifted out - I think - well, maybe not a ring or coin - but one more bit of exercise that I didn't have to pay the gym for. You would think there would be a big difference in me by now!!!!

Cavedweller now I know why you are so exhausted.

It is hard to believe that one can accumulate so much garbage on a few hunts out.  I know from experience it is.  One has to dig the garbage to get to the good stuff.  The ones that don't leave goodies behind. 

I know there are people who cherry pick, but they leave the goodies for the rest of us

Two of my best rings were found in heavily hunted areas amongst the garbage.....

Thanks for doing the Right thing!!! All that junk reminds me of when 7 guys from my metal detecting club started hunting a Boat Swim area. Each day for a month we too a 5 gallon bucket of trash out that swim area. After getting all the junk out of the area, we are still retrieving junk out of the same area, we started getting the good stuff. We now call this swim area, Ring Island. I would guess that the 7 of us found over 5 to 7 hundred rings at this swim area, including a 6,000 diamond tennis bracelet and I can't tell you how much the rings were worth. We also found many, many silver coins in this area. We still hunt this area and still dig up beer cans and pull tabs, and we still find jewelry.

I can't for the life of me, figure out why guys who have expensive boats, can't afford a trash can!!!!
