Spent too much on a knife

I have been selling and making knives since I was 20-years old. Here is a Ken Richardson knife made from an old leaf-spring, and a couple of my favorite Gerber models. Can't give the full link to my store TerrysKnifeStore but I can special order anything and everything.:skullflag:

That one should be named the BFK instead of BFM!

This is my BFK

Only gripe is the handle is slippery when wet...still thinking on the best way to cure that.

The phenolic handle on the 119 can be scored, but most folks just silk tape it.:headbang:

I carry a well stocked toolbox in my truck. Rather grab the right tool for the job...

I like that. I came up on a license check a hundred yards past the entrance a piece of land I own right outside town that turdheads just can't seem to stay the hell out of. It was about 11 pm and I turned in and circled through as I always do checking for trespassers, came back out and rolled up with my license and insurance ready. He looks it over, asked if I had any weapons. I kept my hands on the wheel and told him I had a .380 in my waistband and a CCP if he needed to see that, a knife laying on the console, a pocketknife, and a toolbox full of any number of things to pick from. Then he asked if I dropped anybody off when I turned off. I explained and added that their CI circles through all the time, just ask him, and invited them to drive through anytime. Didn't add that the CI had also used my land numerous times with state officers when staging drug busts in town. Anyway, he told me to have a good evening and that was that. I find that it's a heap easier to be polite and not all attitudy, and haven't seen the need yet to go rioting and burning and looting.

Go for it.

With the dozens of different steels there is a lot of overlap; and some folks don't mind spending a few minutes restoring an edge. Some even find it satisfying. And some are happy with D2 - that takes a mediocre edge and holds it forever. We all have different needs and expectations from our knives.

Two of my favorite knives are a forged 1085 steel 4.5" skinner made from an old plow coulter, and the other a forged 10" "Rifleman's" knife from 5160 off a Ford truck leaf spring. Have to watch out for rust but the edge retention is astonishing and they will "pop" hair off your arm when fresh.

And both VERY much made in the USA. ;-)
