We found this at an abandoned farm permission. We have found things dating back to the mid 1800's. It appears to be lead with a metal (iron?) pin inside surrounded by wood. It is dimpled around also. It weighs 3 1/2 ounces. It looks like a spindle whorl but that would be weird in Illinois I would think? Any other better ideas? Also, if anyone has an idea on the long thing in the bottom pic, that is bugging us too. Found in the same place. Thanks for the help!

I think valve stem may be correct, trucks had long ones. Could the ball be the top of an iron bed post from an iron bed?

Never seen a spindle whorl with an iron insert before, so can tick that off the list.

Maybe. Seems too heavy duty though. We were thinking maybe valve stem but pretty long. Thanks for an idea though!

Solid or hollow on long item. Looks like a punch
That does look a lot like it. The large end of ours is threaded inside. Thank you!!

That is what we are leaning towards. I didn't know they could be that long. Thank you!!

I reached out online after reading all the answers here. And I found it as a punch. I came to know such new things here. Thank you, everyone.

Thank you! I got that idea from something online and it looked like wood through with a metal hook on top. I will discard this idea then. Thanks!
