A couple of Spokeshaves I have found over the years… anybody else have any Spokeshaves?… post ‘um up… please.
….. s.e. Minnesota surface finds.

I found this point in 1982.

made from highly paginated Burlington chert, the spokeshave on the blade edge has very good secondary percussion flaking. Give the spokeahave a steep bevel.

this points spokeshave has fine secondary flaking. I found this in 1980 in Jefferson County Missouri.

Found this a few months ago. Love the material and flaking on it. I think it may have been a point repurposed into a spokeshave.

Would you type the above point as a Waubesa?

No, I have a point which I think types as a Waubesa from Frankline Co Mo, made of Heat treated Burlington. The tip has been thinned and rechipped. The cross section is very thin.

I think that point would best be typed as a Adena Stemmed, but that just my view.

This point was found in 2005, made of Zaleski chert.

Here is a closeup of the spokeshave, I have attempted to show the knapping in the spokeshave.

The first pic was my grandfather's find near Tombstone a long time ago. The rest are Great Basin Crescents I have found over the years.
