Hi everyone. I'm just getting into coin roll hunting. I collected coins for a while in elementary school (early '90s, hehe) and have always put aside "interesting" coins, but in the past couple months I've gotten back into it (possibly inspired by my boyfriend who's a little bit of a gold bug). I've learned a lot reading this forum already, and actually can feel myself getting more interested in American history and history in general... 
So I've been asking for halves when I do my personal banking or just when I drive by a bank... it's been fun already. I grew up going to thrift stores and garage sales, so I've always understood the "treasure hunting" attitude.
Anyway, here are the stats so far:
-I went through the boyfriend's coffee can of ~$200 mixed change and found a 1963-D Roosevelt dime, two war nickels (1943-P and 1943-S... I'm such a newbie I didn't even know about war nickels, just thought the first one I found looked weird and looked it up) and a 1940 nickel, and a few wheat pennies including 1919.
-I looked in the coins my mom had set aside (almost all foreign) and found a 1960-D dime (showed it to my sister who couldn't care less, so it's mine).
-In my own stuff I found my first 40% half (mixed with clad halves)... also two Japanese 1 sen coins from Meiji 10 (1877) and Taishou 10 (1921)! No idea where these came from and never even heard of a sen (1/100 yen, taken out of circulation at the end of 1953 according to Wikipedia)! And a really cool-looking French 25 centimes from 1926, art nouveau style. None of those are precious metal, but they are awesome. I may have found them in coin counter reject trays but couldn't read the dates on the Japanese ones as they are written in kanji as the "emperor date".
-The real CRH:
4 halves at my bank a few weeks ago, no silver
$30 in loose halves at one bank (didn't have any more cash and when I went back 6 days later the rest were gone, d'oh)--skunk anyway
made boyfriend ask at his bank, 9 halves but no silver
a few banks while I was out of town dropping my sister off at the airport: $15 CWR/loose, $20 BWR, 1 half--skunk and I dropped one down the car seat crack and can't find it!
yesterday at my own bank again, they had 5 halves and I finally got 2 40%ers, also got 2 dime rolls and 2 penny rolls (all customer wrapped) for entertainment last night (but nothing interesting)
Since I haven't ordered any boxes or gotten much volume at all, I haven't formed a dumping strategy yet, but at this rate I already don't think I'll be able to just spend it all.
My Christmas present from my boyfriend was a silver Canadian maple leaf... we agreed our presents would be under $10, and he argues that he did pay under $10 for it at the time, hehe.
I have two Harco Coinmaster albums for Lincoln cents 1941- and Washington quarters 1932-, mostly filled but could never find any pre-1965 quarters
... anyway, now I find out the pages are PVC and seem to have turned my coins green on the raised parts... ick. So I may be starting over.
Anyway, that's more than enough for a new member post.
