🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Sterling oddity

Can anyone tell me anything about this tiny sterling pin? Age? Is F.E.M. initials of the owner? Organization? I've never found a pin that also had a chain. Was something attached to that chain? I found it in an area where 100+ year old coins are also found. The maker's mark looks like W6 or maybe WCo?

cudamark, that it one sharp pin that is in really good condition! While I came up empty using Google image search, its size suggests to me it may have been worn on a lapel. Because the initials F.E.M. appear on a scroll, it may be academic related. However, whether they are for an individual or organization is beyond me. Maybe telling us a bit more about where you found it would help.

It looks like a modern safety catch, which according to https://www.globalgemology.com/dating-brooch-fasteners.html#/ was invented in 1911.
