Sticker shock at the movies!

Think that is bad, try Imax 3d or some of those dine and movie cinemas.

We are lucky, have on multilplex here near where we live, tickets like $8.00 for matinee small popcorn $4.00 and Small Drink $3.00. but here is the kicker unlimited refills on popcorn and drinks. Not bat compared to the regal cinemas.

This is another reason streaming is so popular now. My wife and I bought an early Christmas present a 65" nanocell LED technology LG with the smart remote that we have on or 55" lg. On a pre-black friday sale I think it was $579 or $679.Love that smart remote. Our date nights are often at home if it is a move we wish to watch. Cheap grocery store popcorn and sodas and way more comfortable seats. We have the whole den to ourselves. and of course our Springer Spaniel.
Plus you and the wifey can get NAKED![emoji13]

OH ! an I forgot... a crucial thing... to me anyway...

The ability to...... REWIND !

When you missed a part.. OR wanna see the part again.

And packed theaters suck even worse when you got some big dude with an afro in front of you... or some chick with a pom from dew.

Or someone with hot bad breath chopping on jawbreakers and smacking and suckin away.

OR ...

Anyone else got a theater "peeve" ?

...ya gotta fart and try to do it quietly...usually comes out as a big bang!:laughing7:

With very large TV screens, and many movies channels, it pays to stay home.

No one mentioned the volume. All of the above, has kept me out of theaters, and the last time, over ten years ago, it was so freaking loud! An assault.

To heck with all that BS...Go to Wally World (Walmart) and rummage thru the $3.74 DVD video bin...:headbang: :headbang:

So I assume you’re also not a fan of the metal band Megadeth and their live show?

Go to yard sales... always movies for sale... most are 1$ sometimes less. (although some people ask 2$ but deals)

Watch em... then sell at some point for your $1 or .50.

For Thanksgiving I decided to take my wife to a movie. Tom Hanks played Mr Rogers pretty well but the price of the popcorn and drink made the experience underwhelming!

Happy thanksgiving everyone!
I hear ya. Me and mrs. B went to that movie last night. A large coffee and a medium Icee was over $14.00.

sigh ... I haven't been to a movie theater since 1971.:unhappysmiley:

When I was a kid, I could get a double feature, news reel, cartoon, and a small popcorn for 25 cents. Am I showing my age?
Yeah, going to the matinees. I remember one time all us kids lined up to head in to the theater on a freezing cold Chicago suburbs day and there was metal railing along the sidewalk and this kid put his lips on this railing and they got stuck to it. The kids skin of his lips were left on the frozen railing. I still remember the comments other kids saying wow his lips are still stuck to it. The kid was covering his mouth with his mitten with tears in his eyes. Those matinees wear a riot inside that theater and we called the usher the crusher. He was always pointing his flashlight at group of kids telling them to shut up and when he threw a kid out that wouldn't listen he did it just like a bouncer in a bar. Those were the days and when we'd go see the Chicago Blackhawks the scenery was even better in the 1960s watching adults get drunk and smoke with every form of administering tobacco, such as pipes, cigars and cigarettes choking me to death. I witnessed two fans get into a fight. 1 guy started running up stairway trough the bleachers and the other guy grabbed him by the ankles and pulled his shoe off and started beating the guy running away on the head with his own shoe. Then a couple cops came and hauled the two guys away. My dad only said, boy those two sure had too much beer to drink.

That's exactly why I watch TV at home. The snacks are cheaper, the line to the bathroom is way shorter, the toilets are cleaner, and I can hit the pause button. Just put $100.00 back into my pocket ! Back in the 60's and 70's, it was cheaper for me to go to the theater as an unemployed child, than it is now as an employed adult ! I will say though, it was a very nice gesture that you wanted to spend time with your wife at the theater.

Never been, but I bet I wouldn't like it, feeling my ear drums blow out like a cheap set of speakers.

Not that much here in MI I would starve before I payed that much

I went to the BEST Black Friday Sale. I stayed home and saved 100% :)

What would really suck is...

You pay for tickets and some popcorn and drinks...

And the movie sucks.

I would ask for a refund :P

The last two times we went to a movie (and I will only do the matinee), the bozos sitting right behind me kept talking during the show. I asked them to please stop talking and they got offended and started making noise with the potato chip bag they brought in. Next time I will just get up and move. Maybe I should have just stood up and blocked their view, but that wouldn't have ended well.

Oh and by the way I bet anything that they are the kind of people that through their trash on the ground everywhere they go!
