Still After IT!

Howdy Folks. Yes, I am still after some more goodies but, just falling short of my expectations. I did get a few cool old relics from the last several hunts so I thought I'd get them on here. The H. H. Franklin Manufacturing tag was found in my home town at night. They were a bearing company in business from around 1893 to 1933 or so. I forget the exact dates. Got a little brass valve from my buddies parents place down the road. Tiny aluminum bell from there too. Brass buckle was a few feet from the Franklin tag at night. Also the brass spindle thingy as well. A pair of old bullet brass. One is a 40 82 and the other a 38 40. Today I found plenty of iron and the cool little "button" with the ladies face on it. The back is gone but, I am assuming it was a button. Needs a bit of cleaning but, it's pretty neat.

I am coming up short on old coins to date my sights. I know the history is pre civil war but, just not getting my coil over any old coins. I'll keep after it though. There has to be some around somewhere. I need to talk with one of my farm ground permissions owner. Not sure which fields are his or maybe someone else's? I don't want to ruffle any feathers by crossing onto the wrong property. Weather has been good still so we'll keep plugging away. Thanks for stopping by. Kurios1

He hee! And to think I got into metal detecting to find silver coins. I was buying silver coins at auctions and decided I would buy a metal detector and find them instead, since I was nearly broke. Now I dig up iron, and all sorts of other weird stuff. Never have been much at scoring silver coins. :tongue3:

Walking Back to the CV I Hooked a Toasted Indian!

Howdy Folks. Another one of those proverbial hunts where I was basically skunked on all things good. Worked until after sundown and walking back to the Command Vehicle I got a faint deep repeatable signal around 81 on the R2. I stuck in the D95 and tossed out a big plug of dirt. Scanned the dirt and nothing. It was still in the hole. Got my carrot and found it in the hole. A no date well toasted Indian Head Cent. YEAH!!! I am happy as all get out to finally score my first old coin at this field sight. I gained permission for this field probably 8 years ago and have only found a few Wheaties, a silver Rosie, and the War Nickel a few weeks back.

So I am pleased as punch to get this no date pot marked Indian FINALLY! I got a valve stem, a BIG HOOK and a few chain links, another .38 x 40 brass, .308 Winchester brass, plus about a 12 pack in can slaw. The monkey is off my back. I did chat with the land owner and he clarified his property lines for me. I'll be checking out other spots now that I had a talk with him. That's what I see also a date, time to give that IH little soaking in the HP to bring up the date hopefully. Congrats on the IH Kevin that just proves there's old lurking in the dirt. 8yrs of doing this field? Well you deserve a badge of honour if this is your first oldie from this patch of dirt.

It's been an spot I haven't hit very hard until this fall. I actually haven't hit any fields very hard until last fall. Now I am a believer in field hunting. It's a lot of work so I think I avoided it for all these years. Now I really enjoy it. :hello:
