Cru'Dad & I spent 2.5 Hours in the morning on 500 acres of ploughed with no crop yet land, it was a little choppy in places but good enough to hunt. We have never tried this area, but other than a couple of Scrappies & the nicest button of the day we decided to move after lunch.
The next 2.5 hours on unsearched land (wheat crop) was not much better with the best find going to Dad - Tudor Clothes Fastener (Rose/Flower design).

Other finds included:

1797 Penny
Trade Weight
1946 Sixpence (last year of Silver content) :)
17th C Thimble

I'm not sure what Reg. the 18th C Pewter Button is, but looks like a 'I' at the bottom. Might be 1st Regiment of Foot but I need an ID?

We'll find it tomorrow :icon_thumleft:

The Brits are lucky to have silver coins dates as modern , in my country the last peseta coins made of silver were produced in 1934.

I thought Rowel when I saw it in the dirt, but it a cheap modern brooch missing its glass inserts.

It is a bird band :icon_thumright:

Interesting thought, the Tudor coins turn up over there from time to time but I haven't seen a button or fastener :dontknow: Should be possible, even if a real long shot :icon_thumright:

Quite sure, and shouldn't be hard to google others because it's fairly common.

Are you sure it's not copper/brass? I would guess the color and broken edge made it deceiving.

Am I sure :laughing9: I thought you would be (although it has chalk deposits on it). It's pewter & had an iron shank, I'm guessing this is much rarer than the later copper-alloy types?

Yes, way less common and I don't recall ever seeing a pewter one, and I've probably seen at least 25 of these. The "I" is also not typical so there's a little more to ID this one completely.
