First hole out of the truck yesterday afternoon, 101 degrees, I know it's tore up, but thought someone could help identify. Hunting a house built in1922.

Can't help with the ID, but my guess is this piece was lost way before the house was built. Interesting find.

Looks like it was possibly carried around for many years as a good luck piece , cool find regardless of condition!

Well , the striated lines visible on the one side are quite similar to what is seen on the reverse of the 1853 Seated Liberty quarter
that single year had "rays" on the reverse of the coin - I think it's a credible theory anyway . interesting find .

( Is there any milling visible on the edge of the piece ? If so, I think that combined with the "rays" would pretty much ID it )

Argentium. Thanks for taking the time to look at this, I am speechless, after looking up a 1853 quarter, I am almost certain you nailed it. Your knowledge is more than appreciated, and does make the find just a little more interesting. I believe that the coin may have seen a railroad track at some point, as it kinda seems smeared.....

That thing is cool!, interesting what they may have used to punch the hole in it. Very well can be the 1853 seated quarter! Looks like the rays on back Awesome!!

Awesome find! Kind of looks like it was dropped in a campfire. I'd put that in my best of finds box.

I too think this piece was in a fire - the pitting on both sides and ,some areas look like they have kind of sagged . If a train had run
over it ,I think it would be quite a bit thinner and more oval than round . Cool find !

I've starred at this piece for two days, just hoping I could see more details. It looks smushed and smeared, but a "few" details live on. Thanks for all positive comments.
