Need help with this map... to me it looks like 3 hills, a water source like a creek, then 1 hill. on my property I have 3 hills to the west, a large creek, then 1 hill on the east. Unsure if Native American or what... Thank you:hello2: 20160912_155432.webp20160912_160255.webp20160912_160555.webp20160912_160916.webp

Okay everyone I want you to subjectively answer this question. Does the stone look more like a chicken nugget or a treasure map?

I have to admit that when I read this last night I laughed out loud. I just scrolled past it and laughed again. Thanks for the double laugh!

Well it came from the same place. Believe what you want too. I've got no reason to lie to you. There are bigger stones but you wouldn't know them either. Would this help you.

it's one of the largest at 3'×3'.

Yes that completely clears things up now.

Yes the lighting is off for a good picture. You will get more details . Don't use direct lighting. Remember those who made it did so with candle or lantern light. It is one of your best pieces. You should be able to tell what place it referring to in your area. Keep that part quite.

Right....because there was no direct light back then...on account of Al Gore hadn't invented the sun yet.

My... My... My... Ok Folks. Soooo many of you are just plain WRONG... And those of you who are thinking Worms or Roots, etc... Be my Guest. Please DO take a closer look.20160914_103210 (1).webp20160914_103901.webp20160914_104433.webp20160914_110938 (1).webp20160914_094336.webp20160914_094419.webp20160914_094516.webp20160914_095748.webp20160914_104908.webp20160914_104955.webp20160914_110051.webp

Now as you can see, this stone has definite carvings on it. When it comes to Ancient carvings, if you spin it you may see a fish in the same exact spot as you saw a "X" and a "D" just like we use ":" and ")" markings on a smile face. Above I have merely noted a few on the Map... there are many more. and yes... there is this one as well...20160914_104557.webp

As for you Worm, Root theorist... You need to REMEMBER this is a HARD STONE. The makers had to stop periodically causing the "Feathering" type marks.

I like the one in the blue light. It takes me back to the 90's and I'm trippin' balls.

Bob, I like chicken nuggets but your nugget is better.

Cheers

yes it does and it is MY LAND where I have way more than I need tools, arrowheads, spearheads, metates, effigies, rock art, etc. etc. etc.

I posted it so I could get more help reading it. I do not worry about treppassers because I have 16 cameras covering my entire property and currently 8 more are being st up... Silly Rob

Wait wait, no, yes! I have it! Bingo...

Jerr Bear ain't gone man! I see Jerry Garcia right in that darn carving.

First of all the ones that I have found are exactly like the area it represents. There are more than one at my place. I can not speak for others. I have traveled around this country looking at different places. Once you learn what to look for you will be amazed just how much work is done around the world. I not saying one group is responsible for it all. What I am saying is they used the same roads back then. Some are still used today. The Spanish Trail for example. The early explorer were here a couple hundred years that plenty of time to leave many clues. I have seen where they completely shape the land to make a figures such as a Indians head. In order to learn something one must study the subject. There are new findings in the world a the time. Some thing go against what we have learned. Example Columbus did not discover America. The question why would someone leave a small stone on the ground? So that either they could find the spot upon their return or the next person. You would need to kow the signs and symbols in order to do so. They used nature and would hide it in plain sight. These people were very educated in all kinds of arts. Enough for now. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I watch that show too Bob... the Landscape that looks like indian head. Many people are closed minded... F A C T.

On my way home from California I took some pictures of a few future sites to ck out. This stuff still amazes me.

Ahh, a gentleman, a scholar and a detectorist! Lol.

I think the worms are trying to tell us something though J. But what?!?

Scrappy Darlin, think you should take a look at the photos in my new post. Not worms... sorry for you, HAPPY for me.

I assure if this map Does produce any thing of value or interest... you will know of it jadocs

Oh my, we are going to scare away the original poster LOL

Nope... Been busy. negative thoughts make many of us even MORE Determined. Grin 8-)

Looks like its been tossed around tho, did you find it near water? If so maybe cornerstone. But I still like the native carving idea too.

No... it was not found in nor near water. good question though

So now there are two camps of the "portable rock art" folks.

1. The original group that thinks that every odd shaped rock that they find is some small, hand held, sculpture that is usually several different animals according to how you hold it...even if some of those "animals" are a little lop-sided. These folks will come on here and pretend to ask for opinions on their "effigy", and when all the life long artifact collectors chime in and tell them that it is just a weathered rock, or a rock with fossil inclusions, they freak out, and begin to explain to all of us "uneducated" folks that it is a very important find and the local professor/archeologist/museum janitor/tribal elder has confirmed that fact. (if anyone confirmed it, there is a good chance they just wanted to be agreeable, and not get stabbed in the face.)

These folks think that their "artifact" is waaaaaay older than "anything any of you have ever seen", and that's why we don't recognize them as artifacts. Some even claim that they are millions of years old. So I guess that these ancient people had so much free time on their hands while trying to survive being eaten by a dinosaur, or trying to figure out how to swallow a T-rex (Answer: one bite at a time), that they sat around making crappy, lop-sided, miniature statues that look like four different animals from the future.

2. The second group thinks that every odd shaped rock or fossil inclusion is some sort of treasure map, or treasure sign. There is no shortage of "stone maps" (I've even seen a shell map) that you can google....and it is lost on these folks that those maps...whether real or fake...are at least VERY legible, and there is no mistaking that they are human made carvings, and no mistaking what was carved on them (images, not their meanings).

I don't doubt that there were/are treasure signs that were actually carved on rocks and trees and whatever, but I seriously doubt that they were so small that you could loose them...I would think that they would be put on something that you would want to be able to find when you came back to the area...or...they would be put onto an outright map that you could fold up and put in your pocket (and yeah...I know that a small rock could fit in your pocket). So...someone carves a lion with a hat and a bear on his chin...and somehow THAT tells you where to find a treasure? Sure.

I have to wonder if the "portable rock art" folks have ever seen a rock that wasn't an artifact or a treasure map?
