"stoner" kid buys chips & soda with 13, 1964 quarters and now they're mine

My girlfriend has been working PT at a big name convenience store and last night a young kid came in that looked pretty baked and put a Mountain Dew Red on the counter with some Takis chip type snacks. He then pulled out 13 shiny 1964 silver quarters to pay for them.. My girlfriend isn't a collector and I don't necessarily collect coins either but she instantly knew exactly what she had. Funny thing is, on the way out the kid says to her "you know those are silver quarters and you can probably sell them for a lot more than a quarter apiece." Kid must have had the muchies pretty bad. 8-)

Jackpot! Better than CRH any day

Nice! Donkey could have bought a eighth of the good stuff for that and still got his munchies.:tongue7:

Thank you, come again!

Sounds like Jeff Spicoli. Did he give her a "totally Awesome!" On the way out?

Those who get the reference will appreciate it.

Ya, a few of them look like they lived a very short life in circulation

This is EXACTLY the reason why you should not do drugs. Glad they wound up in the right hands, this is a good find, congrats my main man WIT.

This is EXACTLY the reason why you should not do drugs. Yo wife shouldn't have been so kind, as to warn this punk that they were silver--If'n he was stoned, he would not deserve them. Glad they wound up in the right hands, this is a good find, congrats my main man WIT.

You read that wrong, it wasn't the wife that said it, it was the kid.

He'd probably feel very stupid for spending more "money" for a dew and chips than whatever drugs he took... Naw, he'll just go steal some more!

nice, and to think he could have bought 2 mountain dews and a bag of chips for the value of one of those quarters if he sold them to a dealer paying a decent price.

Nice score there WIT, and the hardest ones to find out in the wild too! HH, Maverick.

Kid knew what he had.

Wow.. Beautiful coins.. I wish I had a hundred kids that stupid in my town LOL.. Nice finds...

Sad thing is of he new what he had...either they were handed down to him and he just blew it. It he pilfered them from someone probably his folks. Damn shame. At least they will end up back In the hands of people who care. Excellent find

Thorne, that is exactly what I was thinking. Sad to say, my family and my wife's family have both had sterling silver flatware stolen by drug addicts and sold to fly by night precious metal buyers... They knew what they had and they still sold it for nothing because they needed a fix. Those incidents have made me very jaded when I see something like this. I am glad you got them WIT, and I just hope it was a stupid kid blowing his inheritance, and not a thief that couldn't find a better way to get rid of them.

You know the little weasel stole the coins from his folks...to bad...

About 70 bucks for the munchies.

Nice catch. I used to be a cashier and a kid bought a blunt wrap with this.
