I recently had a chance at a GPX 5000. It turned out to be a purchase from a university that apparently never used it. The skid plates on the coils were pristine and the spare skid plates were still in the factory bags. It included two batteries and they both took a full charge. When I powered it up, it still had the factory presets. There was every indication it had never been used. Also, as part of the package, included an 18x21 NEF butterfly coil big enough to have its own zip code.
After it all arrived, I got a little nervous thinking it might be a counterfeit. After all, I got a hell of a deal. There was no optical strip to reveal the 'code' to confirm its authenticity. I thought a polarized lens might do it and thankfully it did.
I plan to take it to Arizona this fall for a week-long stay on the gold fields.
I just need to stop buying more gear. ;^)
