Well I went to a spot this evening I've been to a bunch. I pounded it with my CTX about 6X, with the 6" and 11" coil. Any who...
I searched a wicked iron infested area where I thought things were hiding and got a faint bouncy signal. I switched my settings around a bit and the signal solidified bit time (ground coin to ferrous coin for you CTX guys). Dropped down and out popped an 1800 Austrian coin. Not knowing the age and thinking it was 1900's I pocketed it and moved on...
Got a quick Roosie and a Merc and called it an evening.
When I got home I saw the coin, which I knew was Austrian right away, was wayyy older than I thought. Saw the date: 1800. Turned out to be a Austria 1800 A 1 Kreutzer coin. Had some green disease so I treated it and it's now cooling off in a nice mineral oil bath. Foreign coins (besides British) ain't my thing but anything 215 years old is cool in my book.
I love this hobby. One minute you're searching a 1900's site abutting to a very old colonial road, next thing you know you have an old thing in your hand.
Cheers guys
