🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Strange Copper Object Found in Bavarian Field

etchings on shaft, chevrons and lines. looks like a rivet and hole on tapered section. I’m at a loss.

I know it's not, but it reminds me of a paint can opener. Some kind of prying tool...(?)

Yet it also looks like it was attached to something curved/round.

Looks like it may be a mediaeval strap end, used to prevent clothing and legging straps from fraying or curling, and to add weight such that they hung attractively. There are a myriad of different forms but, if you Google the term, you may find similar examples.

Wow I think this is it! Good eye! Have you seen any of these before? I wonder if there’s a way I can get the age

They're a fairly frequent find in Europe especially since they were used over a long period of time on everyday clothing. As I said, there are a myriad of styles and difficult to date unless there is context, but generally from antiquity to mediaeval (ie from 1st to 16th Century).
If that's what it is, of course.
