Strange day in Dime City.

It was a bright day in Dime City, a city that knows how to keep it's secrets.
Where the sun was doing a great job but only half of his duties. The ground
was still soaked from the past two days of rain. But there were still a few high
grounds where one could dig without drowning.

Not a lot of keepers, interesting day though. Had one surprise that kind of
warmed the day beyond it's temperature.

When my ride showed up today, this was all that was left.

Ya the water table is high here too. I was running the coil under the swings over a standing pool of water wondering what I'm gonna do if I get a good signal! I already had on 2 jackets and my winter gloves (not the water proof ones) trying to stay warm with a high of 35 and a 25 mph breeze. I wasn't looking forward to getting wet. Had to call it quits after 3 hours because my toes were freezing. So goes life in the cold lane. We are supposed to get more rain, then a possible freeze.
Can we just skip winter this year?

Big Congrats on very unusual find! Little gold shoe will help you stay warm & laughing this winter! At first I thought you were kidding about it being gold as it looked too shiny to be the real thing and I've never seen a golden running shoe before, lol.

In California, we too have been getting rain & a lot more forecast here, but in our case it's starting to ease a terrible 3-year drought, so no complaints. The first year I detected four years ago was rainier, and I was so intent on getting out to find treasure that I'd wrap plastic around my Bounty Hunter's electronics box so I could keep detecting in the pouring rain. Once in a hard rain, my hubby tracked me down when rain fogged my glasses over and my feet were about disappeared under the water and I looked like a drowned rat even under big yellow raincoat, lol. All I was pulling from ground was a few modern coins, but I grouched at him when he urged me to quit & come home -- then a few minutes later I was laughing at myself and calling it a day! These days I guess I've become too prissy or too old to dig in pouring rain, lol. Andi

OH but we simply CAN'T skip winter!! How else are all those gold coins going to get turned off edge in the soil!?
You know it moves things around and all. Just gotta go with the flow.

Oh I cleaned and polished the pin a bit but it had to be a pretty recent drop. It wasn't deep and it wasn't too very dirty.

I've seen gold flowers, rings, bowling pins, dogs, cats, pigs, elephants, so why not a running shoe? LOL Probably
a mileage award of some sort.

It would be hard for me to be classified as "prissy" but, I feel the same about hunting in the mud. It just is not as much
fun for me. Can do it, just don't want to.

Oh I know, Quindy. The moisture helps the conductivity. I've just gotten older and have grown out of some
of the "gold fever" that drives us. In some ways, I kinda miss some of those days. But, you know, it does make everything harder to do.

In some ways, it's easier in the farm fields. You don't have to be as careful with the landscape. But, that's not really my problem. I plain just have problems with all the mess. Guess I can give up on the idea of ever becoming part of a Tenn. Quad. Too citified.
